Tintin’s Hairstyle
When I saw this little boy, I was immediately reminded of the Belgian cartoon character Tintin, from the French original comic series Les Aventures de Tintin et Milou. The series was first published in the USA in 1932, though it was less widely known there than in Europe. Our CakePhoto-Tintin is probably from the 1950s, so the hairstyle might have been inspired by the Character-Tintin, the family might have come across the comic series, or it is a natural way of styling this type of toddler’s hair, which led to the distinctive upward curl at the front.
Interestingly, I’ve read on the internet that the author of Tintin’s Adventures, Hergé (1907–1983), created this hairstyle by accident when he drew Tintin riding in an open-top car, and he sketched the wind blowing his hair back. Was it our CakePhoto-Tintis’s everyday hairstyle, or was it styled, maybe also by accident, just for the special occasion of the Birthday photoshoot?
What we know for sure, though, is that our CakePhoto-Tintin had a brother!

Tintin’s big brother
Sometimes, siblings or parents are part of a nice portrait with a cake; other times, usually siblings, somehow step into the scene out of excitement.
Especially, younger siblings cannot resist joining in.

The collection features two separate photographs: Tintin’s cake portrait and a snapshot with his brother.
