David, the boy out of focus
First, this quote of a sentence from the Wikipedia page:
In 1853, David M. Smith of Springfield, Vermont, invented a clothespin with two prongs connected by a fulcrum, plus a spring.
I had asked Google with this exact idea in mind: the boy’s name would be either the name of the inventor of the clothespin, or I would have to think of something else. (I really hoped the first idea would succeed.)
This is our birthday boy, in 1958, standing beneath clotheslines. His face is hidden, and there are no candles to count.
It's no surprise this snapshot was neither framed nor saved properly—David’s head is hidden, and the focus is lost. A photo in front of a house or farther from the lines might work better, but that’s not what we have. Still, I prefer this candid and authentic shot that makes me appreciate moments spent living, not posing for photos.
